chocolate salad :-)


A quick “15 minutes” dessert – you can make it very plain – like above or dress it up a bit with some chopped nuts (almonds, pistachio, whatever you have available) and some mint leaves.

– 2 or 3 citrus of your choice – oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, a mix of citrus…
– a piece (not big) of a VERY GOOD dark chocolate – 70% cocoa or more
– 1 teaspoon of sugar
– 1/2 cup water + 1/2 cup of the citrus of your choice squeezed
– half vanilla pod or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence

optional – 1 tablespoon Grand Marnier or Cointreau

Peel and slice the citrus, arranging them on a dish. Put the water, vanilla, juice and water in a small pan and let it simmer until it becomes a light syrup, remove from fire and add the liquor (if using it). Pour the syrup immediately over the slices, add the chopped nuts and mint (if using them) and grate the chocolate over them.

Keep in the fridge for a minimum of 2 hours before serving.
